Q&A: Well Prepared for EU Drinking Water Regulations with KRAIBURG TPE

Our recent webinar, “Well Prepared for EU Drinking Water Regulations with KRAIBURG TPE,” was a significant success, and we are pleased to provide answers to frequently asked questions from the session. During the webinar, Hartmut Arheidt, a specialist in drinking water applications, introduced cutting-edge solutions such as materials compliant for tubes and hoses. These innovations adhere to stringent European regulations and the KTW-BWGL guideline, ensuring predictable outcomes and mitigating the risk of non-compliance.

What should a customer expect when intending to sell a product, which is already on the market, to another European country in 2027?

Any customer intending to sell a product in 2027 to another European country to which they have not yet sold this product, will have to have their product tested according to the European standard valid at that time. Otherwise that product may not be imported into that country. There is a great chance that material manufacturers will not have tested materials in the short time available. Customers should have all approvals renewed by the end of 2026 in order to have additional five years time to qualify their products according to the new EU standard.

Is KRAIBURG TPE working on a hot water solution for hoses and tubes?

Due to the requirements at 85°C for hoses and tubes, KRAIBURG TPE cannot offer a solution at the moment. As soon as the new European Regulation is fixed, the topic will be taken up again.

How easy is it to process the new DW/CS2 series compared to the previous series?

The new DW/CS2 series has many advantages. It flows better and demolds easily even at higher temperatures.

What do you mean by all colors? Is every color available?

Almost any color is possible, although there are always exceptions. KRAIBURG TPE has been able to meet every color request from sanitary customers over the past 10 years.
