Quality and service in focus at Picavi

What originated in science fiction is now a daily occurrence in modern logistics centers around the world. People absorb 80% of all information visually, and solution providers are taking advantage of this characteristic, including Picavi. The Herzogenrath-based company develops data glasses that can cover all logistics requirements. With the help of pick-by-vision, information is displayed to employees directly in their field of vision via data glasses. The advantages are obvious: The wearables allow logisticians to have their hands free while always having all important details in view. As a specialist in cables and cable assembly, Müller Plastik GmbH (Wipperfürth, North Rhine-Westphalia) and KRAIBURG TPE worked together to develop a solution for Picavi's data glasses that protects both the connector and the end user's sensitive head area.

COPEC®, a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) that has proven itself over decades of use, especially in consumer electronics applications such as smartphones, computer mice and controllers, won the race for the preferred material. It meets basic requirements such as adhesion to the cable sheathing as well as the connector terminal, and is also skin-compatible to ensure maximum comfort for the wearer. The polar adhesion as well as the excellent surface properties round off the material and precisely meet Picavi's requirements. "We were looking for a suitable material and came across solutions from KRAIBURG TPE. In addition to the high-quality and local materials, the uncomplicated and fast communication scored particularly well in the project. Our contact at KRAIBURG TPE, Dr. Johannes Krückel, was directly on site and brought the project to a quick success. Only one trial was needed and we had a bull's eye," says Manuel Köster, Technical Manager at Müller Plastik.

Marco Holm, Product Manager at Picavi, also confirms the good cooperation: "We got to know KRAIBURG TPE through our collaboration with Müller Plastik GmbH. Their know-how and enormous expertise helped us to specify all the requirements in a short time and identify a reliable, high-quality solution that meets the high demands of our data glasses." The successful collaboration demonstrates KRAIBURG TPE's service promise in practice, because what was required was not only a plastic with outstanding values, but also the corresponding service, which is provided close to the customer. The success of this project is rounded off by the recyclability of the material used.
