FAQ: High Resistance TPE for Cosmetics

Once again, there has been an active participation in the web seminar on High Resistance TPE for Cosmetics, which took place two weeks ago. KRAIBURG TPE’s latest portfolio expansion addresses packaging applications for products based on water-resistant formulations. With the new compounds, KRAIBURG TPE is presenting a product enhancement based on COPEC® that meets common requirements safely and for the long term.

The most frequently asked questions from the web seminar are answered for you by packaging applications expert Dirk Olberding:

Are there also compounds with hardnesses lower than 65 Shore A?

With a 60 Shore A compound, most applications are covered. There are technical limits when it comes to developing softer compounds that still offer the same level of material performance. It was technically possible to include the higher hardness grades up to 45 Shore D.

How can the compounds be processed?

Various production tools were already tested during development. Compared to other material solutions, which also have increased resistance to isododecane, these compounds are much better and easier to process.

Were barrier properties tested?

The gas barrier was not a focus of our development phase, which is why we cannot provide any precise information on gas permeability at the moment.

How far along is KRAIBURG TPE in the development of High Resistance TPE for Cosmetics?

The compounds are available immediately and worldwide - just speak to your sales contact at our company.

How can you imagine the feel of the compounds? And what about the surface, is it matt or glossy?

Compared to other elastomers, the compounds in this series have a velvety, high-quality, dry surface. Thermoplastics such as PP, ABS or PET have a duller, less glossy surface.
